Jamie McNeill

"end game"

McNeill, Jamie Peter (b. 1980) Scottish Artist, Born in Glasgow . Educated; St Alberts Primary (1985-1991), Holyrood Secondary (1991-1995), Glasgow School of Art [GSA] (1999-2003). While in his third year at GSA, McNeill conceived, organised and promoted God is a DJ?, an exhibition held in a disused mining village in East Ayrshire . The show featured several of McNeill’s pieces, and works by 350 of his fellow GSA students. The exhibition is notable, not least, for the plaudits McNeill received, within the local community, for his multimedia performance Carbon He will probably be more widely remembered however, for his claimed descent (as reported in the Glasgow Daily Record 12/09/05) from the infamous impostor Alan H. McNeil, who had invented an ancestor, Alun Henrye MacNyle, to whom J K Rowling had allegedly bequeathed her manuscripts back through time, for safekeeping and tax.

Holly McCulloch

"excessive activities lacking ultilitarian value for society"

The colours of six dresses form the axiomical statement from which all my work is derived, forming a personalised ‘concentrated spectacle’ ; a pseudo- institution of idiosyncratic rules, systems and values. My work is a constructive project, creating an autonomous, personalised, administrative reality that lacks any utilitarian purpose, except to self-administer. The mimicry of bureaucratic structures is an attempt to humorously undermine their authority. Fundamental to the underlying parody of such structures is the investigation of the social and political meanings attached to colour.

Laurent Plessiet

"Fantastico la plastiche"

“Le prolifique et amateur laurent plessiet tente le possible à la ville, à la campagne mais aussi dans les arts plastiques. Il réalise des installations et des décors sonores, dessine, peint des maisons et le tout seul ou accompagné.”
“Prolific and amateur plessiet laurent tries what possible in the city, in the country side but also in plastic arts. It accomplishes installations and sound decors, draws, paints houses and the all alone or accompanied.”

They invite artists free of charge, and make art books and zines to fund their project. Luke has collaborated with over 65 different artists, usually connected to drawing and doodle circles. Luke's creative language has been heavily influenced by the "d.i.y" punk movement, Prem Rawat's message of peace, and a growing list of artists from Keith Haring to Keith Jones. Luke explores the possibility of art that doesn't always conform to gallery walls, although he has exhibited solo shows in Philadelphia, Rochester, Portland and Vancouver.  Islands Fold has a scheduled exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark for Fall, 2008.

I want to work with what an image means. I hope to be suprised by the meanings that these works can generate, so that by putting the right materials together, they can do more or result differently from what I expected.

My work spans over many types of media including photography, film, drawing and installation. In this show I am showing two pieces from a series of drawings of crystals, minerals and diamonds

"Alisa Craig"

Graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2007

There has been a growing involvement of historical and anecdotal places and stories in my recent works.
I have been wanting to base a wall drawing on the Ailsa Craig, an extinct volcano island just south of Arran. The island used to be quarried for its particular granite rock, which was the major source for curling stones.
